This is a list of things that I think need, should, or i feel like saying.

    Home

I will be getting home on Tuesday. Probably around 9:30.

It would be awesome to see as many people as possible that night. I am planning on hosting some kind of shindig at my house as my mom forbade me to drive that night. Something about you will have been awake for about 32 hours or something silly liek that.

Anyways it should be a lot of fun.

    Germany update again!

    June 8

Today was busy good and frustrating.

We were welcomed by the mayor of Essen in the tallest city hall in Germany. The view was amazing and pictures will come eventually. On that topic I have been taking pictures for those who are reminding me, but transferring them to the computer, getting rid of the bad ones, and uploading them to facebook or e-mail is time consuming and that is something I do not have much of. You will get them eventually.

We then went to lunch at the student cafeteria on campus. It is, unlike the USA, fantastic food. Most of us had steak and with our student pricing it was about 3.5 euro for steak and a side of something

After class today myself and 4 others purchase our tickets for London and Dublin. That was the frustrating part. I spent about 4 hours working on it and am going to bed with it still unresolved.

    June 9

I woke up at about 6 today. I still haven’t received an email from the airline company and thus resolved to call them after class. I then talked to my parents and attempted to get their skype set up and working while 8000 kilometers away.

I went to class today and it was pretty fun. I really enjoy how the class is set up as we talk about things the students want to work on mixed with what our teacher wants. After class I called ryanair and got things sorted out with some help from my mother.

My group now has tickets to spend 2 days in London and 2 in Dublin.

Nothing much has gone on tonight, but I am thinking about seeing who is around and asking if they want to go out for döner and a beer or something.

     Bis später

    June 7

I woke up 23 minutes before my class started about 15 minutes away, so that was great. I made it in time for class and am in the most advanced out of the three. I think it is about where I should be. We had 4.5 hours of class today and that is normal on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. It is only 3 on Monday and Wednesday but then we have 1.5 hours of culture class. We have a 1.5 hour lunch break which is really nice.

After class we had a guided bus tour which was really touristy and not that great but I made friends with the gal I was sitting next to on the bus and my friend Nick and I made jokes about some German translations into English that were discussed in class

After the tour we stopped at the BFZ and then a few of us went out to the “Euroshop” - The euro equivalent of a dollar store. I also drank a soda call Schwimp Schwamp. It is orange cola and not bad but weird. We then went out to eat but I opted to simply hang out and eat back in the room.

Ich muss zwei Breif für meine Hausaufgabe schieben.

Tommorow we are apparently being formally welcomed by the Mayor so that should be sher interessant.

    Until next time.

    June 5th and 6th

I didn’t post yesterday so here is a summary of both days.

    June 5

So I am now in my hotel room. Had a good number of hours on two different planes and some quality airport time.

Not quite settled in but mostly unpacked. I still have to swing by a geldautomatik to pick up some euros and then grab some food.

Upon arrival it was sunny in Germany and far too humid. Now I am writing this to the sound of thunder and it is cooling off nicely.

The room is pretty small but I do not need much space. There is a small bed and a closet along one wall and then my desk and fridge along the other. There is a small bathroom attached that has a shower.

In Essen we are an hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time, so 9 hours ahead of the west coast.

    June 6

Yesterday we, myself and four others from WSU, went out to find an ATM and get some food. We found an ATM without much trouble and grabbed some Turkish food as that is what is cheap. I had a Hähnchen döner, basically chicken and a salad in bread. It was pretty good. I then watched the third x-men movie and hit the sack around 10pm.

Today started out at 6:20 am for me. Talked with several friends back home and got ready to go. We had a welcome from the humanities and international office with an hour long or so introduction to the Uni. Then we took a placement exam and it seems like I did about as well as the other semi-competent German speakers.

We were then given a tour around campus and by some students at the Uni. After that we went back to the BFZ, out hotel, to drop off our stuff and hit the town. We stopped at a café/bar and each grabbed a beer. Then we met up with some friends of a group member who was here last year.

We traveled around town and did some shopping. Then we headed to a beer garden and once we were almost there we realized we left a person behind. We found her at BFZ later. We also found out that the beer garden we were going to was closed so we found another. We stayed there for about 3 hours just relaxing. Most everyone had beer but a few of us opted for some German wine.

We then headed back to BFZ and sleep is fast approaching.

    Germany

I am getting on a plane in about 1 hour and 46 minutes as i write this. First I will stop in Amsterdam for a short layover then on to Germany. I have School there. It is a language immersion program so I should learn a decent amount of German.

I know all that I really need to know, “Es war gut für mich. War es gut für du?” and “Geben mir ein bier, bitte.”

But in all seriousness this should be a ton of fun and I am excited but its is a big leap across the pond.

Until i see you all again. Nach Deutschland!

    WTF Washington

I know this is not a rare occurrence, but it still made me mad. I was working outside today. There I worked in sun, a lot of rain, a little bit of thunder, and a whole shitton of hail.

    grrrrr

    Twelfth Night

Watched it for the 3rd night in a row and it is still hilarious.

William knows how to write plays. Might even top Much Ado About Nothing in my book.

    Great job everyone involved.

    Today

    …Erinn and I ended a 6 month 9 day long relationship.

Life happens and this was probably for the best. On the surface things seemed wonderful but there was much more than the surface here.

I am honestly happy about how things ended. More importantly she is too.

I am not going to say I still do not have strong feelings for her, but I know this is what needed to happen and it was better now when both parties are happy.

On a happy not I had one of the top scores on the test from my HOnors Physics class.

    Pullman

Back in Pullman. A few weeks of school left. Need to make sure my grades stay up. Also thinking that Ireland might not happen. It is just too much money.

    The Figure

Against the swirling vortex stands a figure,

    Standing strong against the madness.

My mind rushes to and fro, thrashing violently.

Sight of the figure is never lost.

The figure is a constant pillar,

A landmark within a fog of turmoil.

The seas rage, crashing down upon me.

Trying to drown me under their waves.

    Nothing is clear,

    Life is blurred.

Everything is uncertain, covered in haze.

    All save the figure.

Focus upon the figure reveals it to be a woman,

One the world has never seen.

An invisible lady, though no through hiding.

The world simply cannot she who she is.

    The figure is beautiful,

Not perfect but all the more enchanting for it.

Her eyes are calm pools, liquid orbs of light.

Contrasting the frantic madness all around.

The figure’s hair floats gently behind her,

    Demonstrating power over the chaos.

Her voice is soothing, a wondrous melody.

Calming even the most insidious storms.

Looking upon the figure one sees,

    Realizes he was blind before.

    One can see more, though.

    One can see the soul.

    A soul pure and white,

    Glistening and radiating light.

One sees another soul, his own soul.

Sees how it is but a shade of the figure’s.

    When looking at the figure,

    Looking into the figures heart.

    The picture changes, landscape changes.

    The fog is lifted.

    Storms lose their power,

    Banishing doubt.

Colors regain their normalcy, hues becoming vibrant.

    The vortex stops swirling.

The scenery behind the figure is green,

    Rolling hills speckled with trees.

The sky blue as if the sea was spilled out upon it, then dotted with clouds of cotton.

    The figures looks at me.
